In a quiet corner of the ancient monastery, a calligrapher carefully dipped their quill pen in ink. With patient hands and confident strokes, they brought the letters to life in a choreographed dance of ink upon parchment. Uncial calligraphy, with its rounded and majestic forms, told stories of times long past. Each stroke was a whisper from the past, a connection to the ancient scribes who preserved knowledge in curved and powerful letters. In their creative solitude, the calligrapher became a guardian of beauty and tradition, conveying love for art and writing with every word. Sounds lovely isn´t?
The distinction lies in the fact that I am a young, very young calligrapher in a stage of growth and learning. This piece was not created in a tranquil monastery but rather in the bustling Gothic Quarter of the city of Barcelona. However, what I can share with you is this profound sense of connection to an ancient legacy and the creative solitude that makes the whole world around me fade away.
I thank Laia Soler for guiding me on this fascinating path of Uncial, Insular with Versals, and Celtic knots calligraphy, with her wisdom and skill in the intricate knots and shapes.
